I've moved the blog again...sorry, but I think you'll understand when you read the reasons why. Be sure to update your bookmarks, feeds, etc. Thanks.
I probably wouldn't encourage my kids to linger with most of the performers we run into in parks and other public places. Seriously.
After a person retires in Japan they talk about their "second life." I wonder if this man has been doing this for years, or if he once worked as a company man.
Taken at the base of Mount Takao (a "World Heritage Site" as residents of Hachioji will proudly inform you).

UPDATE: As the commenter pointed out, Mount Takao ISN'T a World Heritage Site. I did some checking, and it seems "efforts" are being made to have it designated as a World Heritage Site -- probably spurred on by the controversial plan to build a new expressway through the mountain (via a tunnel).
A back alley in Nakano...the man seems to be shuttling bottles between two related restaurants (or maybe they have an arrangement to loan each other alcohol when needed). The smoke is from *yakitori* and *yakibuta* cooking over open flames. "Tori" means chicken and "buta" means pork. I once stopped by the shop in the afternoon while they were preparing for the dinner crowd (and took [an unremarkable photo](http://photosensibility.com/photoblog/index.php?showimage=109)).

Climbing Mount Takao
We climbed Mount Takao this afternoon with the twins. We discovered there are multiple routes you can take (somehow we missed that before). So we took the most natural looking one (#6). The trail follows a stream. Actually, sometimes the trail and the stream become one (to the chagrin of a few young women we saw hiking in fashionable leather shoes). It was a good choice; super green and beautiful. I recommend hiking boots if you try it, because of all the wet rocks, roots, and water. I think we only hiked about two miles, but it took a couple of hours. Not sure how that happened. The twins did great. I just put them to bed, and they seem to have gone out like a light. Very nice.

Reia went for an overnight kayaking trip. Tomorrow she'll participate in a fun "race" on a calm section of the Tamagawa River above Mitake (near Ome).
