Climbing Mount Takao

Climbing Mount Takao

2008-06-07

We climbed Mount Takao this afternoon with the twins. We discovered there are multiple routes you can take (somehow we missed that before). So we took the most natural looking one (#6). The trail follows a stream. Actually, sometimes the trail and the stream become one (to the chagrin of a few young women we saw hiking in fashionable leather shoes). It was a good choice; super green and beautiful. I recommend hiking boots if you try it, because of all the wet rocks, roots, and water. I think we only hiked about two miles, but it took a couple of hours. Not sure how that happened. The twins did great. I just put them to bed, and they seem to have gone out like a light. Very nice.

Reia went for an overnight kayaking trip. Tomorrow she'll participate in a fun "race" on a calm section of the Tamagawa River above Mitake (near Ome).

That's Mari in the photo.

  • I agree, looks almost surreal.

I think it is great your daughters are getting to spend a lot of time outdoors. In the states right now there is a TV ad campaign to motivate kids to get outdoors and exercise more. I really look back fondly to growing up spending a lot of time just playing outside in nature.

Btw I enjoyed your black and white photos of the band posted earlier, especially the first b/w shot of the bass player.

  • Hello, and thanks for your beautiful pictures. One note, your RSS feed is very nice but the images all appear broken. I'd love to be able to see them pop up in Google Reader rather than showing as dead links. Thanks if you can fix this.

  • Ok, I think I've fixed it. Let me know if the photos show up in Google Reader.

If anyone else has a similar request let me know. Currently, I have things set up so people can't hotlink images. That means online RSS readers are blocked as well, unless I specifically unblock them.
