Old Japanese Woman at the Shrine
2008-01-23
I shot this at the main shrine in Kamakura. Visitors were crowded at the entrance tossing money into the collection bin and pausing to pray for the New Year. A young boy grew impatient and sat on the floor at his mother's feet. An old woman chose that moment to leave. Fortunately, her face cracked into a smile rather than a scowl. You never know what to expect with personal spaces intersect in unexpected ways.
